Default Help. Model 15-3 Grip / Stock Pin

My model 15-3 did not come with a pin in the grip to keep your grip from slipping around. I had wanted to replace these hogue mono grips but I can't find the right pin! I ordered the pin pictured but it did not fit. It was a solid pin while the pin in my model 10-5 snubby was a roll pin, which is what I assume I need.

Does anyone know where I could find this pin? Thank you

Unlike OEM solid pins which can be made in any diameter and length the factory so desires, roll pins are standardized. They are made in standard diameters and lengths. I can't imagine S&W would tool up to make custom roll pins when they can be purchased in standard sizes by the train car load far cheaper than they could make them. I would measure mine, but I'm not at home so someone else will have to do it. I'd imagine a good hardware store would stock it. But, good hardware stores are hard to come by these days. It's even possible The Depot might have one. If it's too long, just chop it off and chamfer it with a dremel tool. If it's not black oxide, a good cleaning and cold blue would work fine.

Roll Pins can be found in almost any well stocked Hardware Store. Personally, whenever I have to replace a Roll Pin I make a solid Pin out of Drill Rod. I find that a slightly rounded shape on the Drill Rods end is more gentle on wooden grips. I've got a slew of Drill Rod blanks and opt to get a good friction fit - Locktite NOT needed. I do replace the Roll Pins with solid ones when I really care about the grips such as Ivory, Sambar Stag, old pristine Walnut, etc.

I am NOT a Roll Pin fan in general - but that's just me. YMMV
