Default Model 29-2 4" Nickel

A good friend and good man is very ill with ALS and has asked that I sell his 29-2 4" Nickel. When I look at GB the prices have quite a vast range. He is the original owner and believes it is 40-50 years old. I am seeking your help in distinguishing what factors determine a fair asking price. I will post the serial number as soon as he responds. I am able to email a picture. But unable to post a picture until I find a new host other than Photobucket. Due to their new $400.00 price tag. Any and all help is appreciated.

He also has a 6" 617 which I am interested in buying but have no idea of a fair price. I am quite active on the Sig and 1911 forums.

Thank you in advance. My email is [email protected].

Richard

Age and condition (all original) are two of the major factors to consider when determining value. If the 29-2 has a serial number beginning with the letter S (50 years old) or the letter N (40 years old) that will impact value. Posting the serial number and an estimate of condition (in lieu of a photo) is a good place to start.

I don't follow the Model 617, but I would think $650 would be in the ballpark.

On the 617 if it's a no dash with the wooden combats the price can be higher.
Pictures definitely will help along with serial numbers.
Sorry about your friend.
Many here will be happy to help.

I think the 617 is not special. It has the lock and rubber grips. I can email 1 picture of each so far and more later. I think the 29-2 is special but do not know how special. I will update later today. Thank you.

Without seeing it, I'm around $1,000 for a m29-2 in nickel with a 4" barrel "if" it's in excellent condition. If it has the orginal box and papers we might go up to $1,200+.

The serial number dates the 29-2 to 1980. It would have originally shipped with a mahogany presentation case. As described, $1200 would be a fair price.

Thank you. This appears to have shipped in cardboard with the wax paper. But I will ask Jim. What is the value if there is no box?

The value is the same. It would be a little higher with the presentation case.

Nice looking 44 Magnum. It is unusual that is has a standard hammer and trigger. The 44 Magnum was standard with target hammer and trigger.
