K Frame snubby orphan
Went to my FFL for a license copy and spotted this recent arrival hiding on the back bottom shelf. Looked like a 36 but too big. Turned out to be a 10-5 RB snubby that the son of a local police chief just brought in to sell..so he could buy insurance.Father had passed away a few years ago. $300. Yes..I'll take that, please.Thank you. Once home, took off the stocks to remove a filler that I don't use,and the stock was stamped with the serial number.Nice bonus. I'm going to have to buy another gun safe...

Mine is a 10-7 square butt that went to the range yesterday. Very accurate out to 10 yards, fun to shoot and the twin of one I carried as my issued weapon for several years.

That's a very nice one. Good snag.
A T-grip really makes it fit nice in the hand.

^That is exactly what I removed from this revolver. I have pretty big paws and need all the room behind the trigger guard I can get,so no fillers and no stocks that fill that area. I like my revolvers with bare magna style stocks if I am going to shoot them.

Some guys just have all the luck. Nice little 10-5. I have a
10-5 with square butt. Going to go see my serial number.
I see on the butt there is a 1 first number, but not in the
stocks?
I checked my SN and mine is 2,266 newer than yours.
Mine has a D in front of the number on the butt.
I suppose that is not a 1 but maybe an I on yours?

The first number is a letter: D. I don't know why they didn't stamp the letter on the stock..maybe the inspector didn't have any letter stamps..?

I don't see 10-5 RB snubs for anything less than $500 around here. What a great price! Enjoy!

You bought a Model 10 snub nose and as a result, you need another safe?
You sir, are my new hero!!
A fantastic price on a great handgun. I attended a gun show last weekend and saw more S&W "vintage" handguns than I have seen in a long time. I did not see any Mod. 10 2" models for less than $500.00.
I inspected a couple including a 2", square butt model with a nickel finish. It was 95% or better for $575 and I was sorely tempted but, took a deep breath and put it down.

SC S&W 4th Ed.. FYI
Model 10 Exc. $400-- VG $350.........2 inch barrel 20% premium and round butt adds $50-100 to the value of higher grades.

I like your snubby! Good price too! I bought the same last March for $329 shipped. Not a beauty queen, but that is OK. Sure is fun to shoot! Bob

Also possess a 10-5, 1975 production.
Just "found" it through a local gun site.

Back in my experimental days I had built a 45 on a full size aluminum frame using GI surplus parts. After I got that project out of my system, I went to sell it and the prospective buyer wanted to trade a Model 10-5 snub and some cash for it... that was about 30 years ago and it's still in my safe, only now it has a slicked-up action with a bobbed hammer and wears a set of Hogue grips. It's not in my EDC rotation, but it easily could be.
