If the OP knows of a reliable and knowledgeable FFL in the seller's area, it might be worth having the dealer check out the gun then ship it to an FFL in Stuart if it passes muster. I'm a cheapskate, but I'd pay an extra $100 for the service rather than drive 12 hours. S&W used to publish a list of certified repair shops. Maybe there's one nearby.

Yeah, I'm bad to do that. I understand the issue. Thought I explained it. Nobody impugning your manhood. Relax . . .

I flew from Kabul, Afghanistan to Northern Virginia, to go to a gun show.

I wound up buying a 3rd Model .44 Special that was in the first shipment of 3rd Models to Wolf & Klar on January 27, 1927.

Just to update, I did not make the trip. The price was not negotiable enough to make it worth my while to travel and likely come up empty anyway as he continually avoided some specific questions on the condition and like a bus... if you miss one another will be by

Not exactly rare, just high demand... I think you chose wisely.

Buying out of state....I know of a time & place it where it occurred regularly, but that was 20 - 25 years ago. Times have changed.
