Default Landed a 28-2 at good price

Landed this 28-2 the other day. It has ZERO wear anywhere. It seems like the previous (original) owner never fired it himself. No box or anything but the revolver. The photo is not too good...I'll fix later.

Out the door for < $650.

It appears to be a nice clean late HP. Fair price at 650.

Just out of curiosity what tells you it is a 'late' version?

That was somewhere between pretty good and very good indeed. Great gun, good condition, very reasonable price.

Interesting - If I zoom in and look closely at the hammer of the subject Highway Patrolman I see evidence of abrasion of the case hardening colors. My 28-2 has similar abrasion , apparently from contact with the frame. Of my 10 Smith and Wesson revolvers , only the Highway Patrolman shows that characteristic.

Is this a common phenomenon? Any comments?

Very nice!!! What more could you ask for? I know, the box etc, or it was a gift from an old girlfriend. Bob

Default 28-2

As recently as this morning I've seen the 4" 'S' prefix 28-2's in your gun's condition advertised on major auction/sales sites, for $1150 - $1295, and also a 'N' for $1295. Now what the actually sell for is another story, but it seems that there is an increasing interests in the 28, driving these prices.

I think you got a great gun for a great price, DR505!

I'm looking forward to shooting this one...I just can't seem to keep safe queens. I have a couple of unfired outside of the factory (539, 559, 17-6, 58-2, 18-3, BHP) but I will try them all out. Maybe no holster, but they need to send some lead down range!

Nice pick, DR505.

I agree with your "... lead down range" sentiment. Please let us know how it does.

Slàinte,

Bob
