Shooting the 27 today, wow.
Nothing like a 5" M27 for pure shooting pleasure!

I shot 6 rounds with 2 hand grip, 6 rounds strong side - all at 10 yards. 12 rounds inside a softball.

Sounds great. Now you need to try it with some full bore 357 ammo. And you will really find out what a 5" 27 does to tame them down. I used to go out and shoot 200-300 rounds at a time with my 5" 27-2 with no problems with soreness or anything of that sort. I don't shoot it that much nowadays since I have 5 other 27's to shoot along with it.

That is a gorgeous revolver. Thanks for posting for all to see.
From the pictures, it appears to be recessed as well as pinned.
Plus, it has 3Ts!

Beautiful, but you really do need to try some magnums. Won't hurt a bit - you or the gun.

You should be able to do that at 25 yards, offhand. But my M-27's all had six or 6.5 inch barrels, save for one five-inch.It was a little harder to shoot well, but still delivered very well.
I found that my guns liked Remington .357 158 grain JSP and JHP ammo really well.

Oh, I will be. This is a relatively new gun to me and it'll never be a gun I shoot a lot (I have others for that). I'll bring it along slow. A dozen Magnums the next time out, then 25 yards after that. And trust me, I'll enjoy the ride.

Those 27s are fun to shoot, but you have to be careful with guns
like this , due to the value. One minor scratch from a trip to the range or when cleaning can turn this $ 1,500 gun in to a $ 900 gun in less than one second.
Just something to consider when you guys score a mint unfired P & R N frame . The ones left unfired are the ones that will escalate in to the 2k and beyond value range over the next few years , those that are degraded and debased down to shooter grade from hairline scratches , a slip of a screw driver etc will forever be stuck as entry level pieces.

I buy them for me to enjoy, not for collecting value. With that said, I do have a few that only come out rarely for visits to the range. After I'm gone, it will be my daughter's conundrum on whether to keep shooting them or to sell them. I'm careful in handling my 27's, but I didn't buy them solely as an investment. I bought them to please me.

I'm often attracted to Model 27s or Model 28s but then I remember from past experience that for me....I stress for me...
they are bit too big to shoot comfortably. I usually do DA shooting.
So now I always forgo a purchase, although one I did get in the N frame not long ago: The HD .38/44, 1955 production. Just couldn't resist its uniqueness. Oh, and a year or so ago a Model 520, 1980 production. The HD is the 5-inch version, the other a 4-incher.
