What am I missing here??
At the Kull auction that closed yesterday there was a 1955 K-22 (Item number 34) listed as in 90% condition that sold for $1400.00 PLUS a 15% buyers commission. (Total $1610.00 not including shipping.)
I have it's twin brother and didn't realize that they had appreciated that much.....

Not nickel or with a 5" barrel, no historically famous prior owner? Must have been a bidding war gone out of hand...

Some people just get carried away during an auction before they realize what happened. I've seen it many times.

That's kind of what I figured....
I would like to make an offer to the losing bidder (his last bid was $1300.00). I will let mine go for his last bid and I won't charge any buyers premium. I'll even ship free....

There is a 1954 K22 on Illinois Armslist right now that looks to be very nice.
It's $900, and I thought real hard about it. It would be a nice little brother to my 1954 pre-27.

The $900 K22 is a fair buy if grips match. And in nice shape.

I just realized this is in the wrong forum. Should be in the 1896-1961...
Could one of the mods move it??
(That's what I get for posting within 30 minutes of getting up.... )

Auctions have so many variables that play into them, making the final price very subjective.
This is why ending auction prices should not be used to judge actual market value.
Doesn't matter though. Those who are heavily vested in guns due to value just love to use to current ending auction prices as the gold standard for market value.
