end shake. if there is any, try to tighten the screw on the right side plate.
open the cylinder, look thru the barrel from the front end and with the light coming thru the open cylinder area visibly look for any pitting or lead build up

Search Youtube for buying a used revolver. Good info.

Cock the hammer and try to push it forward. The hammer shouldn't fall until the trigger is pulled. If it does, the gun is unsafe.

Def. do check for cylinder endshake. Guns that have been shot much often exhibit that problem. If a prior owner fired much Plus P ammo, that may well occur.

The price is a good one if the gun is in excellent condition.

I'd be interested in knowing which Model 36-2 your daughter is interested in. I have two; one's a Lady Smith and the other is a double action only (DAO) model; both are from 1989.

I believe the price is pretty good if the gun is in excellent condition or even if it has a little wear, but you might be able to talk a pawn shop owner down a bit.

Price is okay if in good shape. If you're not sure what to look for have a gunsmith look at it and walk you through his/her process explaining along the way.
