Default My New Favorite Smith: 27-2

Was blessed enough to be born to a great father, who was generous enough to pass down this 27-2 to me. It has a total of five whole boxes of ammo through her, with my wife and I putting the last 100 rounds of use in.

Brought the gun home not too long ago and put the new stocks on while I was stripping it apart and smoothing out the action. She is in a solid 99% condition, with the only flaw that I found being a couple of tiny flattened spots on the top strap checkering.

Was taking some photos of it for insurance purposes and thought I'd share. Please mind the q-tip lint on the revolver, there are absolutely no flaws on this bluing minus the drag mark on the cylinder (which will inevitably get bigger as I plan on shooting the heck out of it).

That's certainly one to drool over. You must've been a good kid to have gotten that beauty handed to you! I love the long tube guns. Enjoy!!

Congrats on acquiring that fine revolver. And kudos to you for "shooting the heck out of it." That's what it was made for.

I have a nickel plated brother to your long tom 27, which I bought early this year. I also have 5 other model 27's besides my long tom. So I guess you could say that I'm just a bit partial to the model 27 myself.

Enjoy that fine firearm man and shoot the heck out of it. My original model 27, which is a 5" barrel gun, I bought back in 1974 and it still shoots well and it has had 10's of thousands of rounds shot out of it.

Looks like a great gun. Your father is very generous. What grips originally came with the gun when you got it?

The model 27-2 is my all time favorite revolver. The 5 incher balances best for me.

Standard targets, weren't book matched. Thank you for the kind comments as well.

Great Gun!!! The long tube 357s are some of my very favorites. Now after you shoot it for about 50 more years and slide it in and out of a holster a few thousand times, it will look a little like my favorite shooter...

Beautiful gun. I don't think I have 50 years left on this earth (at least I hope that I don't), but I do plan on enjoying this one until it gets passed down to one of my children.
