Cleaned up a friends 19-2.
Talking guns at work and a co-worker mentioned shooting his 357 the past weekend. I instantly asked what maker was his revolver. He knew it was a Smith but nothing else. Said he received it from his grandfathers estate. I said bring it in , I'd love to look at it. Behold a dirty but in excellent condition 19-2. I offered to go through it and here is the result. Disassembled , CLP bath for a week and two coats of wax. Feed + Wax for the grips. The 50s and 60s blue jobs from S&W make for difficult photography , like shooting Nickel.
His grandfather also left a 34-1 with box and papers. It's getting the week long CLP bath at the moment.

That looks great.
I'm a big fan of waxing guns especially for long storage. I usually spray the grit and gummies out with carb cleaner and then a very light rubdown with Flitz if needed.
Could you school me on what the long bath in CLP does? thanks

If I have a blued gun with any rust , a week long soak in CLP and then light pressure with pure copper wool will do away with minor rust with no damage to the blue. I like CLP for just about any firearms cleaning task except copper or lead fouled barrels. The 19-2 above had minor rust at the very back of the frame under the grips. Probably from sweaty hands.

I do the same thing but use Kroil and overnight does the job. That's a nice one and good of you on the clean up.
