Question S&W 29-2 Nickel 6.5 inch

I have S&W 29-2 6.5" that is nickel it's not as bright as my Colts it looks more like a mat nickel like my nickel Colt 1911. I can not fine any reference to S&W doing a mat finish on their guns can anyone help?

Thanks,
Nobeard

Might have been re-finished in hard chrome.

I don't think it has been refinished all marks and edges are sharp no sighs of buffing.

Photos would help. Have you tried or do you think it needs a cleaning/polishing?

If you bead blast bright nickel it will give it a satin finish. It may have been nickel originally and altered at a later date.

Have you removed the grips and checked for the "N" stamped on the grip frame or looked on the back of the cylinder for the "N" stamp. If not there your gun started life as a blue gun and was later hard chromed or nickeled with a satin finish.

I thank you all for your help, I pulled the grips and no N so it must of been hard chromed before I bought it 20 years ago. Still a great shooting gun but was just wondering why it was a satin finish not bright like my 27 4 screw I just bought and my Colt's. All the lettering and marks are all perfect. Again thanks for the help
