model 28 cylinder release
did the model 28 ever come with the new style cylinder release that looks like the top was chopped off? this is a 28-3.

I have never seen one and I doubt they ever came with that style release.

Looks like someone put a Highway Patrolman barrel on a late frame. I'd like to see the frame/crane opening.

There has been a nickel 28 in the Ohio section for quite a while. It has been refinished, and appears to have K frame target stocks on it. It is priced at $875. WOW! Bob

I think that would have been noted under the engineering changes in the SWSC - it wasn't, so I vote no.

Yours is the same listed at Armslist. The cylinder release is not original. The Highway Patrolman was discontinued long before S&W began using MIM parts.
