I'm a semi-auto kind of guy LOL. The ergonomics of revolvers is just uncomfortable to me. Even some newer Semi-auto ergonomics are uncomfortable.

I have the direct opposite issue. I come from the revolver generation. Semi-autos are hard for me to get used to. I bought this one new in 85' and it's been my EDC ever since. The first thing I did was change the grips. The factory ones were awful in my hand.

That's a beauty! I too like semiautos, but there is something very cool about shooting revolvers. Get some pachmayr grips on it or try some other grips and make the ergonomics work for you. Shooting a revolver has a totally different aesthetic. You pull the trigger and the cylinder turns and the hammer drops... no slide reciprocation and brass flying frenzy! Shoot calm.

Welcome to the forum.
You have an outstanding M19.
It's pinned and from the photo appears to be recessed.

Welcome to the FORUM! Nice 19 you have there! Shoot it, it is certain to grow on you. I have it's stainless cousin, 66-2. I prefer revolvers myself. All of my semi autos are single stack but 1. They just feel right to me. Bob

Great pick up
Beautiful M19. Take it out and shoot it, a K frame revolver is a thing of beauty. It points very natural it is light, and carry's like a dream. My EDC is the stainless cousin M66-3 in a 2 1/2 barrel in a Don Hume holster.

Nice! The 19-4 is the best 19, especially if it has a 2.5" bbl.

I sort of come from both sides of the fence, learned to shoot on revolvers but carried a 1911 through my military time. today I have more autos than revolvers - but all I really shoot are the revolvers.
Put about 300 rounds .38 through that 19 and it will start feeling like an old friend - and you don't have to chase brass. The .38 is soft shooting so it lets you get familiar and comfortable with a wheel gun. Some people make the mistake of starting out with a full bore .357 magnum and might get a little recoil shy if they didn't work up to it.
There is nothing sweeter to reload than a .38 with plated 158 grn plated bullets by Berry's, Rainier or Xtreme - very economical and as accurate as you are going to be. Tip though, seat the bullet in one stage, and then taper crimp in a second stage. Otherwise sometimes the brass will crunch up under the bullet. The brass lasts forever with lighter loads, I am still using stuff from the 1980's.
That is a beautiful 19 you picked up!
