Got a Nice 10-6 Shooter Today at a Good Price
I fell into this one. I took an extended lunch so that I could get to my indoor range and shoot one of my three recent purchases, a 10-8. Range store is almost empty and as I hand the man my pass I peruse the display cases. And there it is, sticking out like a holster worn sore thumb amidst the sea of dark gray and black autoloaders, another Model 10 HB!. Quickly determine it's a 10-6 and it's got it's diamond pc's. SN C778512 so I'm assuming somewhere between 1963 - 1965? I don't have my SCSW yet but I googled enough to read this date range in some old forum post. Price is good, good by my standards anyways, and I asked them to "hold" it for me while I shoot.
While shooting I texted my wife and basically had to sell my soul to get the green light from her. She wasn't happy. Got done shooting, came out and got them down a whopping $25 for a price of $325. Lot's of holster wear but as tight as it could ever be. And the grips look awesome. I've got another shooter!
My week old 10-8 is on the right. Oh by the way it shot phenomenal.

Targets Guy,
I don't know what got you on these fixed sight revolvers but I'm pretty happy to have what I have. Nice 13! A local pawn has a 13, maybe a no-dash, new in box but it was $700. I have no money now. We're marrying off our only child, our daughter, in October.

Nice. I'm a sucker for a Model 10 especially heavy barrels, any Kframe fixed sight HB for that matter.

That's a modern day 442. My EDC as long as I'm wearing cargo's. It was purchased for my wife but she could not handle it.

The k-frame .38s are the current bargains in the s&w world, you can find really nice guns in the $200-$400 range, where a .357 would be a couple hundred more. I had a local store practically throw a 67 at me for $200 a couple months ago, gun cleaned up great and with some new grips is an awesome shooter. Best $200 I have spent in a long time.

That's it, you nailed it. Thank God or I couldn't afford a cadilac shooter like these.

EricR, it came down to value for the money. I don't want safe queens. I want to shoot the guns I own. I have always like K frames and am really getting to like the postwar K frames (S prefixes). They are so smooth in their action; almost as smooth as my '51 K-38. The Model 10-8 I have is arguably the best shooter I have. It just fits me.
