Pretty good day at the LGS!
About 4 months ago, the LGS had a 4" M19 in good shape. The bluing had just a bit of holster wear, but otherwise it was nice. He was asking $650 for it, which was just a bit more than I want to pay for a 4" gun. I have a couple of 4" revolvers, but I'm a snubbie guy at heart. I went back a few days later thinking I might buy it, and it was gone. In retrospect, I think the trigger had some custom work, as it seemed shorter and lighter than my M10-8 or the gun described below.
So, today, miserable after having a cavity filled I thought I'd stop by and shop for .357 ammo and refresh my memory on their powder and primer selection.
Low and behold, I see a very nice 2.5" barrel M19-3. I ask to fondle it, and he's asking $600 for it ($50 less than the M19 he had before!). I normally have to play with a gun for a while to sell myself on it. With this one, after examining it and checking its function, I knew I wanted it in about 60 secs. It's so clean it almost looks like it has never been fired (there's a bit of flame cutting, so it has), the lock-up is like new, and besides a few very random and tiny spots of rust it looks like a new gun.
I'm actually a bit conflicted about it, because it's so pretty I hesitate to carry it, which is why I bought it. Serial number is 1OK5762. I plan to get some Rust Inhibiting Grease to treat the spots, but otherwise I'm going to leave them alone.
I would have taken more pictures, but my phone was dying.

Nice find! I probably would have jumped on that too. I have been accumulating for a while and still don't have a snub. Been looking for a snub or a N frame.

Great going! Good for you.
A Model 19-3 snub is one of my very favorite short barrel Smiths. I love it so much, I gave it a pair of ivory stocks for its birthday a few years ago!

That'll make your tooth feel better for sure. Looks like Tooth S&W Fairy was very good to you. Nice find at excellent price. Attached is recent 19-3 Magnaport that called my name. It is a wonderful LOUD shooter.

LOL Yeah I bet he forgot all about his tooth once he saw the M19.
That is one fine looking revolver and the price for that condition was even another plus for it.

What an excellent day you had! Great find, the gun is very nice! I believe in using guns as they were meant to. Shoot it, carry it, just take care of it and it will remain very nice.

I'd say you did really well! That's a better price on a snubbie M19 than any I've seen on my local classifed sites, especially in that condition.

Nice revolver. I had one in nickel back in the mid seventies and was absolutely surprised by it's accuracy! It was sold because of an overseas assignment and I really didn't have a good place to leave it.
I had more sellers remorse because of that gun than probably any other handgun I ever sold. I looked for a loong time and finally found one at an agreeable price and jumped right on it. It is a blue gun and that doesn't bother me at all, as I actually prefer blue. Blue doesn't announce it's self at night as nickel sometimes will.
Luckily, the blue is just as accurate as the nickel gun was. I have several acquaintances that own these snub 357 model 19's and they also report accuracy above and beyond what they expected. No way are any of them willing to part with their revolvers and neither am I ! I will not make that mistake again !

I appreciate the kind words. From the beautiful examples posted here, I can see I'm not the only fan of the M19. A M19 snubbie was very, very close to the top of my list of wants, so I'm very pleased with it.
Does anyone have any idea about my gun's manufacture date? I know the 19-3 was made from 1967-77, but that's about it.

That's a great looking gun at a good price.
I'm guessing that the dental pain subsided when you got it in your hands.

I definitely wouldn't have seen it if not for the cavity (the gun almost definitely would have sold before I visited the store again), so I'm sort of glad it happened.
Sort of.
