My new to me naked revolvers
Just a few quick non-staged pics of my new to me S&W pistols. I bought these two revolvers to use as conceal carry guns. Just picked them up today and haven't cleaned them up yet (right after I get off here that starts) but I like what I see so far.
I have never owned a 49 but thought the design was cool looking and easy to conceal with the almost hidden hammer.
I have owned a 36 but the ones I used to own were too pretty to carry around. This older flat latch looks to be in good condition, but it has been carried and has some character so it can continue in that role.
The 36 looks like an early 1960's model and mid-'70's for the 49 from the serial numbers.
I would appreciate any comments or thoughts on these guns.
Thanks for looking!

Nice duo - Classic J frames......have a 49 that I bought in 73 and carried it as a back up gun for the duration of my 35 year career, still carry it daily as a retiree. Wife is a retired LEO also and her EDC is a 30 year old 36 that I gave her for our first Christmas together three decades ago. Hope your's serve you as well as our's have.

Naked guns
I've got both a 49 and a flat latch 36. Use to carry the 49 as a back up piece. Retired now and still carry it. I've got a bunch of choices for EDC but keep gravitating back to the old 49.
Sure gets a lot of strange looks when it goes to the range with me. Choot em and enjoy em.

Both are great looking revolvers, i say a little Flitz, a soft cloth and some time plus some nice grips would make that little 49 sparkle. Nice buys, i am a bit jealous.

Thank you. I cleaned the Model 49 up a bit and put some vintage S&W wood grips on it. It is too pretty to get banged up and scratched, so I will carry an older blued Model 49 I found and the flat latch Model 36 shown in the pic above.

Thank you. The 49 really didn't take much work as it was in very nice condition to start with. I like Ballistol as my gun cleaner because I can use it on metal or polymer guns with no issues.
I used just a tiny bit of Flitz on the sides of the butt of the 49 and maybe on a couple of small places, but just wiping it down helped a lot.

The 49/649 models are the best of the breed, IMO. My 649-2 is the only"J" frame I own.

Barami hip grips and a tyler t grip would complement it nicely. Old school and still very relevant to today's conceal carry.
