Default A couple of Mod. 10 snubbies

A friend of mine brought me a couple of Mod. 10 snubbies to look at and help him put a price on them. He intends to sell them at a gun show next month.

First is a 10-5; ser# C998942 that I put at about 1967, stocks are nice but not numbered to the gun. Has finish loss and minor scratch on side plate; finish loss several areas on cyl; small scratch and dig on trigger guard. No box or papers.

Secod gun is a10-7; ser# AFJ9294, can't date this one. Has light freckling on barrel RH side; finish blemish on address. Stocks nice, not numbered. No box or papers.

Both guns would be nice shooters but not collectible.

Thanks for the help.

I'd think $350 +/- $20 would be fair to everybody involved. there's nothing special, just good solid basic hideout or back up gun

The SCSW4 shows Exc = $400 + 20% for 2" = $480. Of course that is variable by region. In my area of the Midwest you wouldn't find that for less than $500 and some listed for $600. I think $450 - $500 would be a very fair price.

A 10-5 sold locally (WI) for $425.00 FTF a week ago. I was a backup offer at $400.00. Similar condition, no box, no papers.

I picked up two 2" 10-5s;
both 95%+, no boxes no tools,
one blue/round butt .......... one nickle / Square butt .....

in LGSs in W Pa. in late 16 early 17..... both in the $400 range.

Today prices are fairly stable...... finding ones for sale is more the issue.
would place mine in the $400-500 range.

His have some cosmetic issues....... $350-400max IMHO as shooters.

I've got a 2" Model 10 shipped in 1971 and marked to the DC Police. I bought it last year for $450.

I would not pay over $350 for the Model 10 snub nose in that condition in a face to face sale here in the Austin TX area.

I have a Model 10-7 square butt snub similar to the one I carried on the job. These are great guns and it's current role is my home protection weapon.

I have a 2" round butt 10 in much better condition that I gave $500 for a year ago. That is at the top for me even in better condition and more desirable 2" RB configuration. I agree the $400 estimate is on target for both those.

Yup, 4th edition says the same thing.

Both shooter condition and not really collectible, so around $400 give or take. Regional differences apply.

I have a 10-7 RB from '81 that has a Tyler T grip on it and sits in my nightstand. I paid $250 for it close to 10 years ago and still think I got a deal.

Back in March of this year, I paid $408.00 for a Model 10-no dash snub nose. It is factory marked Montgomery, AL PD. I would say it is about 90% with SN matching stocks.

I thought I paid too much until I looked at the 4th Edition. It seems I paid about the right price according to the publication and with the provenance.

Otherwise, I think later Model 10's might be a little over priced at four hundred. Last year, I paid $450 plus buyer's premium for a Model 66-2 snubbie.

I think at $400 to $450, your friend may not find a buyer in this part of the country.

I paid about $450 for each of these earlier this year. The '51 M&P has no box, and the Model 64 NY-1 came with the box and all the do-dads. These were purchased outside of Denver.

I bought this 10-7 a few years back for $400, looks to have never been fired outside the factory. no turn ring, perfect blueing, w/box paperwork & tools. if i were to sell it today id ask $550. so id say the one you have is a $400 gun around here, where you live seems to play a large part in the value of guns.

It appears rather evident that people seem to like their 2" K frames.
