10-5 Shooting
Made it out to the range today and skipped the eclipse. Not many people at the range, so it was a nice time. tried out some wadcutter reloads in my newly acquired Model 10 4". Thing shoots like a dream with those 148gr bullets.

Model 10s made the 38 Special what it is today, a Standard around the world. Nice targets, Model 10s are fun and practical. Yours is a nice example of what they should be.

I acquired a 10-5 a few years ago from a police firearms distributor, it was a trade-in. I prefer a target-sighted revolver, i.e., Model 15 as, for me, the sights are easier to pick up.
That being said, my 10-5 has the smoothest action of any of my revolvers and is a tack-driver. It feels like an extension of my arm. I had it re-blued and it is a "shooter". You will enjoy yours for many years to come. Best of luck.

Carried a model 10 as a LEO in the 1970s /1980s so I have a special fondness for them. Reliable, accurate, and smooth. If you could only have one revolver the Model 10 would be it for me.

That model 10 is my favorite. Love the pencil barrel. My first duty arm was a 10 with the heavy barrel.

I picked up a 10-6 recently to use as a range/teaching gun so I done beat up my nice revolvers. I'm guessing it was a police trade in as It was parkerized at some point, probably because the bluing was messed up. The action is very smooth. I slipped on a Hogue grip because I have big hands and the stock grips were beat up.
I pulled my old duty rig out of the tool shed and cleaned the grime off it. One of my buddies challenged me to a plate shoot. Wheel guns only.
Steel-6
Speed loaders? Hell, just carry 2 or 3 wheel guns.

Most of the time when I go to the range it's with a Model 10. They're a joy to shoot, especially in DA!

Yeah, thank goodness for the availability of reasonably priced used Model 10's. I tend to keep the rest of the collection tucked away...like I'm going to live forever I guess..

Just sold my model 10-5 to a neighbor who is moving to the country. I'll miss it, but she needs it. She's even older than I, and will be alone much of the time.
I really prefer the balance of the standard tapered barrel.
