Default Model 53 Jamming Issues

I finally got a chance to fire my model 53 Remington Jet. To my dismay after the first shot went off, I could NOT rotate the cylinder. I used PPU ammunition and noticed the round backed up in the cylinder after being fired. A new round fits perfectly in the countersunk cylinder, but the fired cartridge will not. I cannot rotate the cylinder with the spent cartridge in it. I haven't tried any other brand as of yet. I do have a box of Remington Jet.

Any ideas why this is happening?

No bulges in the casing. Cylinder is perfectly clean. Frame behind cylinder is also clean.

When I shoot my 53 I always clean the cylinder holes and ammunition with alcohol to prevent setback. Both need to be completely free of oil and dry, hydraulic pressure from any lubrication will cause the case to back out and lock up the gun.

Alcohol works ok as long as it is not rubbing alcohol with lanolin.
I use carb cleaner sprayed onto a rag and wipe down the ammo and I use a mop sprayed to wipe out the cylinder. I use a mop for 38 cal. Haven't had a lockup in 40 years.

LOL Cleaning the chambers and ammo is no big deal. The 22 Jet is. Once you have the ammo and the chambers clean the fun begins.

22 Jets are the hot rod of 22 revolvers big flash and bang as those little bullets move out.

Besides cleaning mentioned, I bring a homemade simple extractor tool if won't eject all six at once, when that happens push them out one at a time. Sometimes five will fall out one very stuck. The cleaning is the key to start with.

Yep ammo and chambers have to be antiseptically clean, or it will setback and tie up the cylinder. Brake cleaner, lighter fluid, carb cleaner etc. I do mine before I go to the range. Not your average 22...
