Model 27 Snub?
A local auction has what appears to be an early 70's model 27 with a 3" (NOT 3.5") barrel. Is anyone familiar with this? It does not look shortened in the photos.
Thanks,
Bob

Did they measure correctly.......all the way to the front of the cylinder ....... often uninformed sellers measure; muzzle to the front of the frame.

It was probably 3.49" and they rounded downward.
If there is any significant barrel length beyond the half-lug, it is a 3.5".

Poor Bubba gets blamed for everything. I hope he has retired and moved on to classic cars.

Sounds like a cut barrel. S&W did not make a 27 less than 3 1/2". It could be a custom re-make, such as a Jovino.

Now that you've managed to get everyone going, you tell us it's a 3.5" barrel. Thank you.

To your original question, many of us are familiar with the 3 1/2" 27, & pre 27. One of the finest handguns S&W ever made.
