Default Bakelite Magnum grips?

I got a model 57 no dash NIB. The gun was never fired, the cylinder didn't have a turn mark on it. It was in the original box, with the original s&w wax paper and factory paperwork. However, it has these grips that I've never seen before. Someone told me they were bakelite. We're these a factory option?

The stocks on your Model 57 are after market and were not a factory option.

Nope, those are "Rogers" grips. Later they became Safariland brand. Good grips, I like them.

Those Rogers grips are much more durable than Bakelite.

If you wanna see Bakelite, I think that's what Webley used on their military revolvers and many civilian ones.

I call them bakelite because they look like the stuff the Russian "Bakelite" ak mags are made from and I don't know what that material is actually called.

D.H., Combat is correct. That is an early pair if I am correct. Latter ones had a silver medallion with Rogers and then Safariland logos on it. I LOVE THEM! Lots of my K,L,Ns have them on them. I hate rubber but love the plastic Hogue or Roger/Safailand grips. All weather and feel close to a factory combat grip. The best part is they go for $25-$50 used!!!

PS... if you dont like em I'll trade you two Pachs for that pair!

'preciate the offer, but I quite like them myself. Now that I know what they are, I think I'll track down a few more pairs for future use.
