What do you think about a nice Model 65-5 for $500?
A local pawn shop has a65-5 marked at $500, so I'm thinking at most I'd be looking at $500 OTD.
Do you think it would be worth it, from a S&W revolver fan or quasi-collector standpoint?
I didn't take a pic, but it pretty much looks like this:

Bit high IMO for a 4" gun..... but if the -5 is a round butt..... grab it; at 4" it's still a great .357 for woods bumming or IWB concealed carry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of the model 65's are great using revolvers. Nor do I see the 4" version becoming a collectors revolver, just to many made. Personally I would not be willing to pay more that $450.00 preferably OTD.

Location affects price. In California that would be a great price.

The model 65 is my favorite K frame revolver. If I found one in great condition, I would buy it.

$500 sounds like perhaps a 2019 or 2020 price. Kinda high right now.
I suppose the way things are going, one day that'll be a bargain.

My 4" 65-5 is a round butt and a fine shooter and CC piece with a proper belt and holster.
I would offer $400 cash to start and go no higher than $475.
I picked up mine from a cop shop for $317 OTD. It was mixed in with a bunch of VA DOC trade in M64s and was tagged at $299.
I did show the clerk the discrepancy and he sold it to me at the tagged price on his own volition.

That's what I paid for my 65-5 a few months ago! Oh did I mention it was a 3"? I think it's not a bad price if your happy with it. I got a 65-1 4" last year for 450.
Good luck

$500 is about what we would see it for here.
Those grips are Uncle Mikes grips, and they are sought after.
See if you can get it for $450.
If they won't do that see if you can get a box of shells or a holster thrown in. A lot of times they will make you a deal.

It 's in a pawn shop? I'd haggle. They probably don't have a lot of money in it.
I posted in your topic about the M-13. Without seeing the exact gun, I think this M-65 is probably what you should have bought instead of that M-13. Can you buy this, too?
Minor blemishes can be polished out with careful use of Simichrome or similar metal polishes.
Does the actual gun have Michael's grips like in the photo? A real bonus, if so.

Heh. Only $500?
The gun market varies widely from coast to coast. I'm sure there are places where $500 is low.
As with any firearm purchase, you have to ask yourself: is it worth that much to me that I'll buy it at this price if I can't bargain them down?

Seems there were some LEO trade-ins much cheaper. That might be one of them. If you want it to holster and shoot at the range, it's a great gun. If you want to holster it and carry concealed, try finding a 3" round butt. The 640-1 LEO trade-ins were the best used guns I have seen lately: 2" RB double action only However, I do love the 4" barrels. Good Luck.
