Default Some info help please

I recently inherited a S&W 5 shot revolver. It's a top-break, nickel I believe with what could be mother of pearl grips. It is also hammerless. On top of the barrel it sat Pat'd Feby 20 77 Dec 18 77 May 11 80 Sept 11 83 Oct 2 83 Two Aug 4 85. Can't find a model number. Serial number is on bottom of grip. Safety is on back of grip. Gentleman I got it from had a registration card from Detroit from 1968 in the holster. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sorry, forgot to mention it is a .38.

Welcome to the forum. You should ask this question in the S&W Antiques Forum. They'll want the serial number, which is on the bottom of the grip frame, as you said.

Thanks for your reply. Kind of assumed since it was registered in 1968 it was from that era. But I guess it could be from any time before that, just registered then.
