Model 57 dash 0
I have 4 model 57 no dash N frame's but I also have one model 57 dash 0 and have been a collector of Smith and Wesson's for too many years to count. I have yet to see a dash 0 other than this one. I would appreciate any information anyone one on the forum my have.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You mean that someone actually stamped 57-0? If that is the case, then I would suspect that it was an employee error.

Yes! That's what it is stamped. Never seen one that is why I posted it here.

Seems like we've run into this before, but I can't recall the details.

Anyone seen this before or is this a rare N frame? I would appreciate any information or comments.

Model 57 dash 0
I have one. N3XX XXX, not nere it and can't remember the rest. On mine and most likely on your's it's an overstamp of an 29-2 so it needs the -0 to cover the -2. If you look close enough you might see the 29-2 underneath.

Like ND I have one as well. It also started life as a 29, think it was a dash 2 as well and over stamped 57-0, mine a nickle 4 inch.

Tom, The employees who stamped these by hand frequently made errors, so there is no real extra value in a mis-stamped gun. But as a 41 Mag, it should be real fun to shoot

I have a 627-0, but it's correct for that model. I believe it's the only correct "-0."

Agree with this likely being an over stamp of another model mark. There was at least one model that was deliberately stamped this way, the 627-0; I think the 627 was made in very small numbers and the -0 followed soon afterward with fairly minor changes. (Just like Dr Lou wrote right before me ).

Thanks guys for all the responses. I appreciate the comments as I had no idea. It is also nice to hear that someone else had a dash o gun. I'll just take it to the range and have a good time.

The guy I bought my 57 no dash from had a -0 also. The no dash gun was a first year. I assumed the -0 was later.

I too have a 57-0 overstamped from a 29 in 8 3/8ths barrel length. A fun gun to shoot. Dave_n
