Default Finally found a Non smashed taco 10-5 ( follow up thread )

Hey all,
a few weeks ago I posted a question of where you all find such nice revolvers. Well I listened to advice for a change and went looking outside of my normal haunts. What I found is a very nice 10-5 pictured below. It's in really great condition with grips that match the serial #. Speaking of which, does anyone know when this one was made ser # C9985XX
I normally use bk grip adapters on my carry guns but for this one I sprung for a tyler

The serial number is likely from 1967. Hope this helps. Steve

I happen to know what taco is in street lingo; (no "bell" involved either). but that meaning certainly has no relation to a nice S&W 10 snub like that.

Perhaps he making the analogy that the condition of his 10-5 is better looking than a "smashed taco". Kinda like the ones from Jack-in-the Box. Heck, that's all I got................. regardless it is a very nice 10-5. hardcase60

the saying is from another post where I referred to all the revolvers I find in san antonio gun & pawn store and local trading forums look like bags of smashed taco. Taco's seem to be very popular down here. were I back in ny i'd of said boxes of smashed pizza. I like pizza better but I love TX more than the rotten apple.

I digress.... any idea on the date ?

See post #2 - possibly early 1968?

Nice model 10. Now all you need is a 4", a 5, a 6...a newer 3". An older 6.5", both Victory Models, an 1899 and 1902 (not "model 10s", but what the heck). How about the rare 2.5" and the popular heavy barrel 4"? Enjoy your ride down the slippery slope .
