Default Different looking latch on presentation case

I've got a S&W presentation case that looks original. It's a full clam shell case. The case, dovetails, hinges, and Styrofoam inserts all look like my other ones but the latch looks different.

Does not look like it was a replacement, as I see no outline showing a different latch was there first. It would show as this latch is smaller and shaped different.

It has a "Made In England" with a SMS in the triangle.

Anyone seen a latch like this before? Could it be from an earlier presentation case? Thanks

These "English made" latches first appeared on the smooth black cases for Model 29's circa 1958 & 1959 and were carried over on the first Mahogany Clam Shell cases circa 1960. They are fairly scarce and limited to cases produced in those few years.
