Default M19-3 Nickel Grip Question?

Hi Guys,
I have a nickel 19-3 with original RB checkered target grips or banana target grips however ya call them. Some people say they are rare on these guns vs. I guess magna's. Are they for a 19-3? Oh sorry 2.5" gun? Any one know the value? I don't know how to post pics on here or I would have included a pic. Photobucket is no longer my friend.
Jim

Someone with more knowledge than I could help you more than me, but they don't make RB 19s any more. The new grips are very thin compared to yours.

That is a beautiful gun. The grips are original S&W, but gun usually came with the Magna grips as a rule. I would estimate value of this gun about 650 to $750.

Those grips, while nice, are not contemporary to the gun. The 19-3 ran from 1967 to 1977 and grips with the full speed loader cutout came into being in the early 80's.

Very nice gun and unless you are a hardcore collector, I'd leave the grips right where they are.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Pizza Bob is correct the 19-3 stopped production way before the K/L RB checkered target grips with silver washers appeared.

If the grips are in excellent condition and have nice wood grain they're in the $150-$200 range.

Lesser quality are much commoner with price matching conditionand a buyer willing to pay it.

I don't see K/L RB checkered banana grips for sale very often and smooth bananas much much less than that.

IMO,the revolver is $600-$650.

Stay Safe
