Default Model 19 Date of Shipment

Was at my favorite LGS this afternoon and the owner was just taking in on trade a 19-4 nickel 2 1/2" barrel, P&R. No box or papers.
Had Pachmayer presentation compact grips. Red ramp front, white outline rear. Not a single scratch or mark on it but the gun was really dirty however the bore looked nice and shiny, strong rifling.

Serial number 24K31xx. Tried to get a price on it but the owner said to call him in the morning. I don't have my SCSW available.
Can anyone an approximate date of shipment?

1978 - 24K1 to 24K6700.

The rest of the 24K numbers were used in 1979.

Note: the SCSW 4th gives all 24K numbers as 1977, which is incorrect.

Default Model 19

Thanks very much for the info. I suspected it was somewhere around the late '70's.

Bought it this morning for $500. Not a real good price but not bad either. Now I need to find some decent grips for it.

$500 for a nickel plated Combat Magnum with the 2 1/2" barrel is a decent price, even with Goodyears on it. Be happy!
