FWIW, those look way nicer than the promo photos I saw a couple of months ago. The promo picts I saw were lighter wood and the checkering lines were dark - they almost looked like they were burned into the wood.
These darker ones look much better and they have some really nice grain. Let us know how they feel when you take them shooting.

They look nice. I am still considering for some of my blue guns.

Yeah, much nicer than Altamont's promo images.
I'm tempted..

The lady I get many of my grips from, sells on ebay and has her website for sales...she has been so nice, and after I select or tell her which grip I am interested in, she will send me actual photos of several she has in stock, and then lets me pick the pair I want. You can't get much better than that. These are the three she sent. I selected the set above shown on the 66-1 (#1), as it had such nice grain (my first thought was #3)...but just not sure these aren't too dark for stainless.
(and just figured out how to fix images from IMGUR)

Her first name is Tina (I have her last name at home). Terri Redman is "Gripseller", who does only Ahrends Grips.

Altamont's price is $82 plus shipping.
Another web seller I know of is $85 plus shipping.
This seller I got these from is $90 shipped.
So they all seem to be selling about the same. Altamont has sold out either once or twice. And both these sellers have sold out. All seem to have just restocked in the last couple weeks.

They look great to me! I have a set of blond smooth targets on a 66-1 that I like really well, but those dark stocks look pretty nice on yours. Not a bad price either. I'd keep them.

So, you bought these off a seller on eBay? Or off a website? If so, what is the seller's name or website you bought them from? I like the idea of being able to choose the actual grips I am buying.

Thanks dfrazier. I looked and saw that she is listed as out until Oct 7. But the eBay ad just has a stock pic of the cokes. If you decide to buy, does she send you pics of what she has in stock? Or do you have to request that?
The reason I ask is that the grips you received look soooo much better than the stock pics they put out when announcing these grips. I can see getting interested in a pair with wood such as the ones she sent you pics of, but not that plain jane wood that Altamont has in their stock pics when they released these grips to the market.

I like the looks of those stocks. They are very nicely grained. I am not a fan of factory target stocks as they feel too large and do not conform to my hands well. N frame cokes are an improvement and I am wondering if these would feel better than factory offerings?

I have bought from her on and off for years. That photo of this grip on ebay is an actual set she had (she takes actual photos of one set she has for that grip listed & posts that photo)...the reason I know, when I messaged her, I asked if that set was available and she had already sold & shipped that set out, so then she sent me photos of three other sets (shown above) she had. But yes, you have to message her and ask for a photo.

I received mine from S&W via Altamont, they are a nice straight grained set of walnut that appear to have come from the same block. Not fancy but gives my 66 the impression that I am about to hook up my duty belt and drop the Smith in the holster (I started out with a Mod 19).
