Information requested on a mod 14-3
I am attempting to determine any info regarding the following S&W revolver: It is a model 14-3, blue steel, 6" barrel, serial number 14K1XXX, 38CTG. The following numbers appear on the cylinder yoke and on the inside bottom of grip: 05XXX. I apologize for not being able to send any pictures at this time. Any information regarding the date of manufacture and possible value (approx 80%+ condition) will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum from Virginia;
SCSW (Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson) 4th edition shows 1977 serial numbers from 10K0001 to 24K9999, so yours is in that range for 1977.
SCSW 4th, also shows values ANIB (As New In Box) $750, Excellent $550, Very Good $450, so there is a range for you to play with, however most will tell you that these old (not made anymore) revolvers are highly subject to 1) condition, you mentioned 80%, which is a personal subjective estimate, others may see it better, others worse, so photos always are pretty much a must before others will comment, and 2) availability which can be a geographic area thing (i.e. gun friendly state or local area, there may be many up for sale, other more restrictive states may be a lot less...so let the negotiations begin!
Other members will probably come along with their two cents worth, but above you have mine.
Personally the Model 14 is a real sweet shooter and built by the real craftsmen in the days of still hand fitting and final assembly. I'm pretty sure that you will enjoy shooting that piece....no matter what the condition is, or the "value".

cmansguns covered it well.
Not stated whether you are seeking information in anticipation of selling or just wanting info on a nice target revolver.
One thing for certain, if you set the sights at a bench and shoot the 14 a few times, you will fall in love with the accuracy and "sweetness" of one of the finest models Smith ever made.

Welcome to the FORUM! Congratulations on the 14! You are sure to enjoy it! I bought a 14-3 in August 2014. I should shoot it more. Bob

And a big welcome from the Land of Enchantment! I've had my 14-2 (1964) for about 4 years now and I love it! As mentioned above, they are accurate, smooth and beautiful.
