Default Date of Manufacture Please

Gentlemen. I have been a member here for a long time but do not post a lot. I had a list of the born on date of 4 S&W revolvers I have. but some how it has disappeared over the years. I tried to search for old posts of mine that would have this info but found nothing. I was hoping someone could help me get these dates so I can finish my records.
The 4 Revolvers I have are:
1. Model 36 no dash, 3" barrel with a flat latch in Blue SN# 1657** no prefix just the 6 numbers.
2. Model 38 no dash, 1 7/8 " barrel with flat latch in nickle SN# 1138** no prefix just the six numbers.
3. Model 66 no dash, 6" barrel P&R Stainless Steel SN# 9K109**.
4. Model 17 dash 4, 6" barrel Blue SN# 33K86**.
Any help you all could provide would be much appreciated.
Thank You in advance.

Hi

Someone else will have to help you with the J frames.

For the two K frames, here are the build years (shipping could be a year later):

Quote:
Model 66 no dash, 6" barrel P&R Stainless Steel SN# 9K109**
1976.

Quote:
Model 17 dash 4, 6" barrel Blue SN# 33K86**
1979.

Default Date of Manufacture

This is what I found in SCSW #4 for J frames:

1955 ended with 75000

1957 ended with 117000

1962 ended with 295000

Hope this helps a bit and I'm sure the experts will be along who can pin it down even closer.

Thank You gentlemen. It seems like the K frames are easier to pin point the dates on. I am guessing that means the J frames were built sometime in 1956 up to just before the end of 1957 depending on how many were made per year correct?

I can pin it down a little closer for the J-frames.
1265xx shipped in 7/58 (so 1138xx probably shipped 4-6 months earlier, and would have been manufactured in 1957.)
1650xx shipped in 9/59 and was probably manufactured in 1959.

Thank you all for the help. No I don't post much at all. I was a member of the site before it changed and did a little more posting then but I just don't have the knowledge to share that some of you all do. I am getting ready to pass my firearms on to may son so I wanted to get some information so he would know what it is he is getting. Thank you gentlemen it has been a pleasure absorbing all the knowledge you had to impart.
