Tonights score (with photos)
I scored a mint 29-2 6 1/2" tonight. Presentation case, paperwork, tools. I was in such a rush to get to dinner I didn't get any photos & also didn't have time for the paperwork. I hoping to pick it up tomorrow possibly or maybe I can get some photos of it.
I went there looking for a used rifle for a buddy of mine, but when I saw this...well I couldn't walk away.

No one can blame you for picking up that one. It looks to be in great condition. You should be proud to own it.

Full on Dirty Harry on this one. 29-2, 6 1/2 inch barrel, blued. It had to be in my family. Cylinder locks up nice & tight. I don’t think it saw much if any actual use. I’ll never know but it’s prior owner took care of it. Only thing missing is the box it shipped in since I don’t think they shipped in the wood box. But I could be wrong. We have a bunch of knowledge folks here that can sort that out.
I noticed this morning I have a bit of a blue & nickel version thing going for several of my models.

When you shoot it, you'll probably be thinking,
Did I fire six shots, or only 5?
Congratulations!

They are great guns and fun to shoot. I own a slightly younger brother serial number N647553 purchased 8/28/1979. Unfortunately I don't have a receipt in my files but I'm guessing that is was slight less than what you paid.

Mine had smooth rosewood target stocks, which I think handle recoil better, and shot VERY tight 25 yard groups.
But I had that same case. It's nice.
My idea of a holster is my Safariland M-29, lined and basketweave stamped. No longer made, you can get the El Paso Model 2, basically the same. The lining prevents excessive finish wear.
Good gun for bear country or for deer. Kinda big and heavy for daily wear, but that holster on a suitable belt will minimize weight.

I have a holster that Lobo made for me about a year ago for 6 1/2 inch N frames that is fantastic. In fact I'm debating about using that holster with a 629 for this year while hunting with my Browning 1886.

What a beautiful revolver and from a time period where quality still mattered. I stopped in at one of my LGS this afternoon and they had just taken in on trade a 29-2, 6" barrel, nickel, no box or docs. Very beautiful gun. They are asking $999.00

My other 29-2 is a 6” nickel. I would like to get a model 15 in nickel. Another thing I really like about the older guns is the counter bore. Just seems very slick when the rounds sit flush with the cylinder.

Brought it home today & I'll try to ship the box out to Joe tomorrow for some repairs.
My guess is the 29-2 is from 1975 (maybe 1976?) with the serial #318725. But I know that you guys know that stuff better than I do.
While I was picking it up, I put a 19-3 2 1/2" round butt on layaway. Has some pach's on it, but I figured she needed a good home also.
