Little Help Please SB model 36
Folks,
I picked up this really nice model 36 a while back. Sadly, no box or anything. Gun is truly in amazing shape with the faintest of turn lines.
Anyhow, I would like to get a born on date for this gun. I think it might be a 50's gun, but not 100% sure. Grips are original to the gun and in great shape. Flat latch, etc. Serial number visible in pics = 37349X.
Any additional info would be appreciated. I do not find much about the SB versions. Personally, I like the feel of these grips better than the the RB version.
Any and all comments welcome. If I remember right, I think I paid $450 for it.
Thanks in advance,
NQ

It is probably from late 1964 to early 1965. Enjoy!

Agree with Alan, I have 338531 which shipped in 4/64 so late '64 early '65 appears about right.

Model 36 #3538xx shipped in September, 1964. There is your basic time frame. So, Alan's "late 1964 to early 1965" is about right.
The SB is common and, like you, I find it to be easier to shoot well than the RB version.
The flat thumb piece on yours is the third style, and is consistent with the serial number and an early '60s ship date.

What a great hip pocket carry gun. And a fair price.

An old school black T-grip would complement that one nicely, and make it fill the hand better.

As always, thank you to all for the information. This little heater is going to get her baptism by fire at the range this week!
For whatever reason, I have Tyler's on all of my RB Js, but prefer the feel of just the stock grips on the SB. I have a little treasure trove of T grips i have accumulated over the years. If necessary, I have a gloss black one on deck just in case.
