Service Revolver Trio
I started my L.E. career in 1983 when the service revolver still reigned supreme in duty holsters. I carried many different S&W revolvers during my 25+ years career. Living in South Florida, many of them were stainless steel, but as I have grown older, I have come to appreciate blue steel revolvers. So, I set out to acquire a blue steel, fixed sight, service revolver in all 3 frame sizes. The last I needed was a Model No. 13. So here they are:
S&W Model No. 58 .41 Magnum Military & Police
S&W Model No. 581 .357 Magnum Distinguished Service Magnum
S&W Model No. 13 .357 Magnum Military & Police
Now if I could just acquire a Model No. 520............

Thanks! I actually carried that Model 581 for many years. It was the first personally owned service revolver I used. I then switched to a Model 67, as it was lighter and Stainless Steel. Then when we were authorized to load with .357 Magnum ammo, I switched to a Model 66.

I have the standard barrel Model 10-9, the Model 13-2, and the Model 58. I enjoy them all, shooting reloaded lead semiwadcutters at moderate velocities. Enjoy yours also!

Somewhere along the way we traded our aging Model 15s for stainless two & four inch Model 64s. My service weapon was the 2” and it was the only time I shot a perfect score @ qualification.

I just qualified with my 2" 64-2 last week, and shot a perfect score with it. I was the only one with a revolver, and the only perfect score. There weren't as many comments about being obsolete after the targets were scored.

Very nice collection there.
I have a model 681 that was carried by my now assistant chief when he was a patrol officer.
During that time I carried a nickel plated 586 and loved it.
I foolishly sold it when we transitioned to the self loading pistols back in the 80's.
I commend your selection but would suggest you do add a model 10-5 along with your model 13.

That is a beautiful trio of sixguns. When looking at the K, L, and N-frames together like that, it is very striking just how big the N-frame is.

Nice, compared to the smaller frames the Mod. 58 looks top heavy.

Just thinking that a model 36 with a 3" heavy barrel would fit in there nicely.
