Watched this for a few days.
Could not let it slide.

Very clean and tight and right.
Serial number ranger is N 824xxx range
which make a late pinned 25-5.
Hopefully the throats are good enough.

Congrats on your purchase. I have literally the same gun. 25-5 with a serial number that begins with three letters. Very accurate gun with properly sized throats. I hated the finger groove grips and sold them for cheap back before I was a member here. Mine now wears Spegel grips.

Never a fan of the combat grips.
But, they sell quick and bring good
money.

Always heard he story of oversized throats.
45 Colt is not a target gun...for me anyway.
Good caliber for defense.

I believe the oversized throats was only a problem with earlier 25s. The 25-5s with the three letter prefix all should have the correct sized throats.

The 25-5 is a great gun, in fact they are great enough to have two of them. One I believe is a N serial and the other an S.

I haven't bought a gun for the grips but I have bought a gun because I had a nice custom holster that was specifically made for a C--t, M-1903 32acp.

I traded for a 629-5 MG wearing combat RB, I did so I could sell the grips and be in the gun cheap..

Worked out well, bottom dollar $325 for my MG..

Well, never bought a gun for the grips, but recently sold one with emphasis on the grips.

I had a 1902 second change with a very rough finish, not original in many ways, had a very slight bulge in the barrel - yeah, I know I did not do my homework at all- but it had a set of Mother of Pearl factory authorized grips.

Sold it at a local gun show and my emphasis was the original grips and how good the condition was. Ended up getting $300.00 which was more than a local dealer had offered.

I don't believe that there were any "S" prefix 25-5's as they weren't introduced until the late 70's (77 I think) and the "S" prefix changed to an "N" in 69-70.

Bought this model 10 yesterday for $250 solely because it had Combats on it. The gun isn't perfect, but it's in nice shape for a gun thats been carried,

I'm a big fan of the gun and the grips. Well done. If you are not into the stocks, perhaps set them aside and put on what you like. They will not go down in value and we have all been there where a nice gun comes up and has a pair of lesser quality grips on. Nice to have something on hand to throw on for temporary use or safe queen status. Again, great gun and be proud to own that one!

I bought a RB 4in Model 19-5 because the smooth RB targets really caught my eye. Got lucky and it turned out to be a State Dept gun though I doubt if the grips were original.

They say that the Smith combat grips in N Frame are the rarest of all the combat grips. Who knows. They are a bit big for my hand. Yes, I've bought Smiths for the grips many times. This old 1948 M10 had Sambar Stag grips on it for $250. The grips are now on another Smith and the gun is my car gun. The Heiser holster is one I had in my big box of holsters.

Not to be mean but I really hate those stocks. I might like the way they feel, I have no dislike of finger grooves, per se, but I really do not like the way that they look. OTOH, I think a M25-5 .45 Colt might be the perfect packin' pistol for any purpose except concealed carry.

I'm hip regarding the grips.
Not my type and I much prefer magna's
But...the drill was to buy the gun, flip the grips.
That will put me in very nice, desirable N frame for around
7 Bens.
