Default S&W 12-2 value ?

Looking at a S&W 12-2 Airweight round butt with a 4" barrel . It's in excellent condition with only a light turn line on the cylinder and no real appreciable blue wear . No box . Asking $599.00 ... a little high perhaps ?? It's a real nice looking gun.

Just be sure to look for cracks in the frame as some model 12’s had the barrels tightened too much and a hairline crack was the result.

Maybe a little high given no box. Last I saw of a nice one it went for $500, Bad news is that clean ones are fairly scarce and likely to become more so. i.e. If it sell's to someone else (even for too much $), you may still have indecisive buyers remorse for a long time. Good news is that the few I've seen in LGS, seem to have birthdays there until the right collector comes along.
Bottom line: If it calls to you, make an offer before someone else does.

I feel your pain Empe. I watched GB daily for a couple weeks looking for Model 12s or pre Model 12s. They ranged from the middle 400's to about a grand. Finally a buy now showed up for $499. It had four bids on it all inching up to $499 so I just clicked on buy now.

Wanted to pay less but now I have one and will take my time on the next one.

I would say that price is way high. I have two 12-2s with the 4” barrel but with square butts that I purchased in the last two years. One was $340 and the other was $350, but both do show some holster wear.
