What would be the date of manufacture for a 64-3.with a serial number of 1D872**....Thank's..

From what i can tell going off my SCS&W 3rd edition it would sometime in 1980.

Late 1979 or early 1980. Most likely 1980, as bigchuck83 suggested. Only a letter can tell you for sure when it shipped.

My 2 inch 64-2 wearing Ahrends Retro Combats is currently on duty too, about 3 feet away in a desk drawer. The Model 64 really is one of my favorites. However, I sure wish S&W had made a 2.5 inch version of the 681.

Most likely Apr - Jun time frame 1980.
