Don't think you have a M-36-1, which has a heavy three-inch barrel.

But a .357 and a small .38 will answer most real handgunning needs.

Default 28-2

N190000 put the 28-2 in late 1973, or early 1974.
My 157000 and 294000 say hello.

Both are desirable, practical guns. Can you retire on their value, no. But, there practical value far exceeds monetary in my opinion. The 4" Model 28 is an excellent shooter for target practice and overall plinking. The model 36 is excellent as a concealed carry firearm (providing you are legally able to do so or have a permit). Those 36's are good shooters too if you practice with them you can have excellent groupings even at distance. Overall, nice collection and both are practical for home defense. Best, TH

Someone explain why this frame was marked M-36-1. Were they short of frames when they needed to make up a batch of snubs? Was the gun re-barreled?

Has anyone else here seen a snub with frame marked as M-36-1?

I'm surprised that a frame milled for the three inch heavy barrel would be suitable for the regular contour snub barrel.

Well, both were being produced at the same time. I'm guessing it just got mismarked. An oddity for sure!
