Default Picked up a 27-2.

Picked up a 27-2 no box or goodies. But seems to be in great condition. Opened it up last night and the internals are pristine. What do you guys think?

Looks in great shape!!!

Should get tons of enjoyment out of it, and most likely YOU will be the one to really break it in.

Very good looking gun.
Just not a big fan of the 6 inchers.

It really doesn't get much better than that. Looks like a new gun to me. Nice photography too, good clear pictures that show the detail well such as the case colors on the hammer. Beauty.

I find it very unusual that the serial number is stamped on the barrel and cylinder. The factory stopped this practice several years before the N serial numbers started around 1970. Not that it is a problem for me, as that is a most beautiful of guns and I really like model 27s. (big smiley face)

I had three. They all shot FANTASTIC groups. Come to think of it, I had four. One had a five-inch barrel.
The six-inch guns shoot better and balance better. I think it's the right barrel length for this heavy frame.

Beautiful revolver you picked up there. I know you will enjoy shooting it. I have a nickel 6" 27-2, along with 5 others in the various barrel lengths and enjoy them all.

I was wondering about this also; I believe this gun was produced around 1975-76??

And thank you all for the nice comments. I've wanted one of these for a while, may start looking for other barrel lengths.

I have -2's in all the barrel lengths, as Collects said these are the finest revolvers out there (IMHO). They are a joy to shoot. Great score.

I also noticed a B with a diamond on the rear face of the cylinder along with the barrel & cylinder being numbered. Is there a factory date stamp under the left grip on the frame?

Left grip frame has the following markings:
A11
2x675
A3
1 77
R3
I am kind of new at this and believe the A11, A3, R3 are inspector/assembler markings.
Possibly the 2x75 or 1 77 are date markings?

The 1 77 is Jan. 1977 . The R-Bi is a refinish stamp which I believe means refinish-bright blue.
