Just before Christmas I spent too much money on me. I swore I was through but this crossed my path. An estate Model 28-2. Collector bought guns and put them up. No box it was stored in a presentation box. It is as close to a new revolver I’ve ever seen. Serial N5625XX

Thanks. This makes my 4th Model 28. I’m gonna pick one of the others to sell or trade. But for $500 I couldn’t pass this one up.

Back in 1970 I bought a NIB M28 4" for around $125. So you paid way too much.

I didn't keep mine very long as I decided I didn't really like it much, too big and too heavy. I think I took a slight loss when I sold it after firing only a relatively few rounds through it.

Back in 1970 I bought a bunch of gas for $0.32 a gallon.

Nice gun, some people love Nframes some not so much.

Good as brand new AND only $500? Now you're just rubbing it in.
Congrats!

With a Smith Presentation box. The blue material lining was toast though.

$125.00 in 1970 had the same buying power as $800.50 in 2017

Annual inflation over this period was about 4.03%. So I think you overpaid Dwalt.

To the OP, or anyone else who might know about it I suppose.

Do you know if the presentation case belonged to the gun? I have this vague memory of seeing a Model 28, with a 4" barrel in a presentation case, at a Gem Store about 1972 or 73. I've come to think that I must have been mistaken because the 28 was a workhorse revolver and almost certainly wouldn't have been shipped that way. I've almost convinced myself that it must have been a Model 27 or 29 I saw.

I have one I bought from original owner with original box, typical 2 piece blue S&W cardboard box. Even came with original receipt from gun shop in 1980.

To O/P.... nice buy
