A couple I didn't post earlier.
Model 27-2
K-22 Combat Masterpiece. I found the diamond Targets at a LGS.
Even the new 19-9 "Classic" doesn't have bad grips.

I just got these J targets used from Numrich of all places. They are far from perfect but the price was right and this gun is for carry anyway.

If you don't mind sharing, what did Numrich charge you for the J-Frame banana targets.

Lots of beautiful grips, can anyone share what treatment you use on dull old grips to bring them back to life?
Thanks,
Pequod.

I think I may need a J frame now.
Seems they used most of the good wood on other frame sizes.
glad they kept some scraps though.

I recently acquired a box of stocks. The majority of them are tagged for what the fit but other than that I have no idea what they are.
Kind of sad that someone like me ends up with stuff like this.
I did pick these Target stocks for my 28-2.
I have no idea of they are vintage or brand new. I just like them a lot better than the Magna stocks that came on it.

Wow, you got quite a valuable haul there! Even got some nice combat grips too. I would love to acquire a box like that anytime. Thanks for showing them to us.

My favorite S&W handles are the "deep dished" variety.
These 104 year old .445's still have that factor luster on them.
These 108 year old .38 Spl's too.
I know these aren't as old as the revolver, or wood. But it sure was a trick getting S&W J frame handles onto a D frame Colt.
And S&W put some pretty nicely figured wood on this 38, but I think it was because they left the factory on a rather upgraded piece.
This horn grip will be nice too if I ever get it cleaned up.

I thought of this thread, as I take the grips off of all my guns. Found some rust on the frame, under one of the stocks on a 28-2. Decided to check them all, and give all the stocks a coat or two of wax, inside and out. Pulled the spare stocks out, as well.
Here are some N Frame Targets. I think one on right is Rosewood

A couple more:
N Frame Smooth Targets that came on a pawn shop 66ND and some oversized K Frame Targets.
A few of my stocks are book-matched.

I bought my 1978-79 Model 14-4 with Hogue grips but picked up some (stamp date on back) 1982. looks way better even if the grips finish isn't that great and a small chip, but they were only $20. Some day when I retire I would like to refinish them to their original state.

I like the old walnut much better than the shiny goncola alves. I think the wood itself is nicer, and the shiny finish on the newer stocks just makes it worse. The first thing I do with 70's-80's keeper GA stocks is strip off the shiny finish and apply something that doesn't hide the qualities of the wood.
