I recently bought a NIB 15-2 at a gun show. Deciding on whether to safe queen or shoot when I saw a 15-3 for sale on the forum. I recently sold an XDS so had some more funds but damn if I didn’t buy another 15 a few weeks apart. Now I have one to safe and one too shoot. Got both for a good price too. Just waiting on the money order to get to the seller so hopefully next weekend I can try the new addition.
So I have a 15-2, a 15-3 built in 68 and 71 so now I want one from 1969 and 1970
Oh it would be great if one of those was nickel and the other a snub.
I don’t know what happened but I find myself searching gun shows and the web for model 15s!
Is their a model 15 support group anywhere? 😁

From your title, I thought you meant you'd bought 15 more guns. Seriously.

Congratulations! Two 15s in a matter of weeks is, well just fantastic! My first (and only) 15 is a 2 inch, -4 from ca. 1982. Before seeing it, I wasn't sure I would ever want a square butt snub with adjustable sights. But as soon as I saw it, I knew I would be taking it home. And now it has become one of my favorite K frames. And, I'm also very proud of myself for how well it shoots. Let us know how your "shooter" 15 performs.

I hate to enable you, but you might expand your searches for M14 and/or M19, which are essentially slightly modified M15s.

Personally, I think my sickness is for the M19. I have a 2.5" M19-3, and a 4" M19-3 in the mail from a forum member. If I find a 6" M19 for the right price, I'll be all over it. I'd love a 3" as well, but they seem pretty rare. Did they make a 5" M19?

I could see myself building a similar assortment of M29/629s, but they tend to be spendier so that will require more dedication to save a bit. I've got a 4" M29 and a 6" M629, and fully intend to get a 3" when one crosses my path for the right amount. The Performance Center 2.6" 629 has tempted me recently, but I think I might prefer the 3". That said, the PC 629 would be a nice big brother to my PC 686...

I almost sold my Model 19 but then I got better.

The four inch Model 15 is the best looking handgun ever made.

It has served its country in the USAF, and rode many miles with our cops.



If you're gonna be weak in the knees for something, make it a Model 15.

No S&W model is exempt from the disease (e.g., Chiefs, M&Ps, etc.), but the 15-virus seems to be especially contagious. You simply can't go anywhere without running into somebody who's carrying the bug, and they're all more than willing to infect you with it.

My first was a from the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy strain. On it goes.... Beware: There is no cure.

The Model 15 is a beauty for sure. A joy to shoot also. Just this last year, 2017, I replaced the Model 15 I sold back in 1973 to an Army buddy. Missed having it and was fortunate to find a 15-4 (circa 1980) in pristine condition with its original box and papers (no tools). It's now my wife's nightstand gun. Yes, I can see how acquiring Combat Masterpieces become an addition. Sorry Grimjaws. I can't help you cure your sickness. Anyway, I'm not sure you or I would want to cure your Model 15 addiction. Imagine all those poor folks in the world who have never experienced owning a fine Combat Masterpiece. Heartbreaking isn't it?

I don't know I'm thinking of having my gun safe buried with me and on my head stone put ( well they say you can't take it with you but I did.

That's why I terminated my Gunbroker and GunsAmerica accounts.

I'm more of a K frame addict than a specific model addict and I do think the 4" Model 19 is just about the best looking gun ever but when my 2" nickel M15 was stolen I was sooooo sad! For years! A fine gentlemen on this Forum finally relieved the sadness.

A model 10 with a 3" bbl is what gets me excited.

My issued weapon was a 4” Model 15 for years. I should have had the good sense to buy mine when they were traded on stainless models but winter coats, braces & house payments got in the way.

RSBH44, That's a great photo. I especially like the pearl grips on your wife's 15. My wife asked me to put Altamont faux pearl grips on her 15. She wanted her Combat Masterpiece to look more feminine and pretty.

Congratulations to the OP. It's hard to walk past a Model 15 and not want to take it home.

I've said it before, but I go back and forth between which I like best; the Model 15 or the 19. Normally I go with the one that being spoken of, but this has turned into a "both" thread.

Unfortunately it’s not the kind of support that you may have in mind......!!

If the OP is looking for a support group, he really came to the wrong place, a bunch of serial enablers who when you are interested in a particular gun seem to have pictures of them in every finish barrel length and grip configuration. All that being said, now you have a shooter and a safe queen in model 15, so I really think a snubbie and a nickel 15 would be the next logical step. After these next two purchases you should learn your lesson and don't ask the advise of anyone on this forum, except maybe if you start getting into model 29s, after all everyone needs a few .44 Magnums.
