1972 10-6 Value
Local gun shop has this pristine heavy barrel 10-6. There are no serial numbers on the grips, but they look original. Asking price is $500, but they say they have some wiggle room. What would be a good offer on this gun?

1972 10-6 Value
My top price would be $400 if I really wanted it. I found a Model 10-9, 4" Tapered Barrel, Round Butt, in the box, no papers, and paid $350 about six months ago.
Best of luck.

Agree with D Brown. If I found myself with $400 to $500 in discretionary funds I'd likely scrimp and save to come up with a couple hundred more and go for a different Smith model. Easy for me to say as I already have a 10-6 and a 10-8.
But that sure is a pristine looking 10-6.

I paid $415 for this 10-3
$210 for this 10-6
and $267 for this 10-8
Armed with these 3 I wouldn't go over $400.
But that is a pretty one.

$400 around here, in today's market. Five years ago? Probably $250 or so. I don't see them going down soon. If "round capacity" becomes an issue down the road, it would likely rise in perceived value again. I have a nice 15-3, but want a nice 10 in the safe too.

Here in Southern Ohio that would be a great $400.00 gun.
Naturally they are going to hold you up for more but you
are the final factor in that number.

I gave $300 out the door for this mid-'70s 10-6 about a year ago. Wrong stocks, but I like the diamonds! The one you're looking at appears to have fewer miles on it.
Consider what you're willing to do, then ask for tax and a couple boxes of ammo to be included in the wiggling.

I just purchased a 10-7 in pristine unfired like condition with a ton of options for $584.00. It has a 6" slab barrel. Aristocratic rail with adjustible sights. Adjustment on front sight for 7 yards, 25 yards and 50 yards. Ball bearings for opening and closing cylinder, Professional worked doubel action trigger. Upper rail is finly checkered to deflect sun reflections. Lot of options on this handcrafted Police Pistol Combat revovler.

That one looks to be in really nice shape. Offer them $450 and see if that doesn't work. I think it would be worth that and they're great shooting guns.

Wow, GREAT job. I wish my 10's looked as good as yours. And while I do have a little collection, my 10's get shot the most. They just hit where they're pointed and the actions are smooth and they are tight!!

I would say that you ended up with a really nice 1 VS. a beater. I would pay $400, all day long. Let us know how it shoots! Bob
