Help with 19-3 problems I picked up
A19-3 in very nice condition but the
Cylinder turns hard on 2 chambers.
I took cylinder apart cleaned under
extractor lubed it and tightened
it securely. Also visually inspected
everything. I have another 19-3
and a 19-5 the parts will not interchange
so I can not find the problem that way
is there a common problem I can look for
Are any parts prone to bend.
The first thing I would do is spin the open cylinder to be sure the visible ejector rod is true and not bent (wearing on the shroud).
Secondly, I would check the barrel/cylinder (B/C) gap on all chambers with a feeler gauge. Mark one chamber end with a sharpie and call it #1. Write down every measurement, #1 - #6. Sounds like something is not true or square.
Sure sounds like a bent e-rod to me... perhaps the result of some “wise guy” flipping the gun shut because “that’s the way the cool guys in the movies do it.” If you just open the cylinder and spin it, any significant damage will show up as a wobbling e-rod.
Thanks you guys are right. The ejector
rod is bent a little bit. It did interchange
with my other 19-3 when I swapped them
gun runs fine. Is it better to order from
S@W or Brownells? I do not think it
is worth trying to straighten it.
Thanks for your input
