Default M625-6 Mountain Gun

I had been looking/wanting one of these with a 3" barrel but they had been eluding me due to high prices. This 4 inch showed up,bidding came close but my max bid held up. It is the .45acp with 4" barrel, tight with good barrel. Exterior needs cleaning and polish. The black rubber stock is functional, if I was going to fire it every day they would be OK, but I'm not so they must be changed. I'm partial to the Combat finger groove, don't want to pay the Ebay extortion prices. Anyone has some reasonable priced I'm in PM me.

Had to just take a inside pic cause it was raining all day yesterday and still raining today.

I had a 625-6 with 5” barrel for several years. I fired it for thousands of rounds with complete satisfaction. This past Christmas I gifted it to my son. Otherwise, there is no way it would have left my house. I still have my 625-8 JM Special.

I have always admired the Mountain Gun and congratulate you on your new revolver.

Enjoy, big time!

FWIW, I shoot my revolvers a LOT and my choice of grips are Pachmayrs on nearly all of my favorite revolvers.

You will enjoy shooting that. Get some full moon clips and shoot away.

Congratulations! You now have the finest fighting revolver ever built, IMNSHO. Back in the late '90s-early '00s, I started carrying a M625 in .45 ACP. The 5" full lug barrel made for an awfully heavy load on my Sam Browne belt. S&W didn't have any 4" Mountain Gun barrels in stock, which I wanted for the extra sight radius. I did find a 3" FL barrel and swapped that onto my M625.

I carried it with a full moon clip of .45 ACPs and my speed loader pouches with four full moon clips, two with the points down, topped by two with the points up, for a total of 30 shots.

I could reload my M625 faster than the majority of my fellow officers that were armed with semi-auto pistols.

Congrats on your new revolver. I don't have any stocks for it but agree it deserves something in wood. I thought all Mountain Guns were in 4", but it has been a few years since I shopped for my Model 25 Mountain Gun.

I was wrong, there are some 625-3's with 3" barrels but they are not Mountain Guns. I had looked at so many revolvers I got confused.

Bought these factory Combat grips from member JCR575, arrived today. Put them on the 625-6, I like them, I already knew I would.

OP, congrats on your recent purchase. What’s not to like about Smith’s Mountain Gun’s/Revolver.

Here’s a gratuitous picture of my 625-6, in .45 Colt and the other in .44 mag.

2sharp2, I'm sure you're going to enjoy you 625. Congratulations!

Oh, I'm proud of my 625 Mountain Gun also. Only mine's a 625-9 in 45 Colt. It is a joy to shoot.

S&W Model 625-9 "Mountain Gun" in 45 Colt

Thanks for looking at my Mountain Gun.

God bless,
Birdgun
