Never a fan of the Tyler adapters - always thought different grips to be a better solution. However, I acquired one that came on a 2.5” 66. Liking the retro look, I’ve yet to remove it.

That looks very nice!! I love the blued snub RB 10's and the blued snub 19's. They look awesome with T grips. Once I finally get mine I want to put a polished brass t grips on mine. I love that look of polished brass with the blued finish and wood look all contrasting each other!

From what I've seen and read, it seems as though most people agree with you. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who loves magnas without a T grip. I want one because they look ocool, but the J frame square butt and K frame RB or SB feel so wonderful in my hands with just the magna grips. I think they are made just exactly right. I. 6'1"/175 lbs, so my hands are pretty big too, but those magnas just fit my hands so absolutely perfect. When I started buying revolvers, I really thought most people would like them as well, but I was very mistaken to find most do not. I wonder why it is some hate them and some love them? Difference of opinion I'm sure, but it's crazy, one man's dislike is another man's love. Weird ain't it? I put up a thread about this very topic and was glad to find I'm not the only one who loves them, but I just wonder why so many people don't like them. I know all the reasons, I've heard them all I'm sure, but I just wonder how some could like them so much and others feel the complete opposite. To each their own.

Surprised no one posted photos of their S&W grip adapters that were probably sold in the 1960s-1970s, believe Pachmayr made them for S&W. I have a couple S&W grip adapters with original boxes, one of them is on my M36. If I remember right they came in three sizes, small/medium/large.

I can only say I hope you don't remove the grips! I am a bit biased as I LOVE magna grips passionately! I really dig the look with the T grip as well. I started to fall in love with the old revolvers about a year ago and during that time I was actually really surprised to see how many people took the magnas off in favor of aftermarket grips, especially rubbers. To each their own, and I wouldn't try to change anyone's mind, but as I started looking into these guns I sincerely feel that they are as classic as the guns themselves. They are so simple and yet so cool looking. I have larger hands and they fit my hands really well even without the T grip. I personally feel that the target grips are almost too big. I like to be able to wrap my hand all the way around the grip. J frame round butt Smiths are a little on the smaller side, but square butt J frames are a perfect fit and anything bigger as well. I guess maybe I'm sentimental or something but your gun looks amazing to me just the way it is. Very nice gun!

I think Eagle Secret Service grips come closest, the only deviation from a pure Magna cum T set up is that the lowest bit of the front strap is covered. Main problem is they're a bit pricey.

In post #37 on this thread I uploaded a picture of my 29-3 with my first set of T grips. I mentioned that I would probably buy more in the future. Well, I ordered two more and put them on my 640-1 Pro Series and my 58 no dash. Thanks for looking. I think I might be addicted to T grips!

I've since changed the magnas out on my 629. I don't know what the common nomenclature is for these grips, but Altamont calls them "Legacy" grips. This configuration feels even better in my hand than the magnas. I'm going to shoot them a bit and if I like them, may move more of my guns from magnas to the "Legacy" stocks.

I don't think the BK's fit quite as good like the Tyler-T's do from what a few others have said on another site. You should source the T's from a vendor & NOT directly from Tyler; because the antiquated way you would order something from Tyler is equatable to a Sears Roebuck catalogue in 1910'. YMMV...

Really 45 minutes? No wonder it is 7 weeks and counting for 3 pairs I ordered. Good Grief!

After I tend the truck patch saturday I hope I have time to hook up the buggy and ride into to town to purchase a money order and put it on the express coach to Tyler. Hopefully it will arrive before the harvest.

After my check cleared it took a full seven weeks to receive them. Must be a one horse operation for sure, but glad to have them and they look and feel great.

I sent in an order for 3 T grips probably after reading this thread and thinking I could live with the 3 weeks lead time they post on their web site, if you can call it that. They cashed my check on 4/3/18 and today's date is
5/19/18. Please consider this before your order from these independent folks. I did make one attempt to call them in which I left a message as to their estimated time of delivery and received no response. Shame on me for trusting these folks after what I have read in the past. There won't be a second time is all I can say and consider for yourself if you want to endure this insulting behavior and non existent customer service. If they want to behave in this fashion they should post on their website "WE WILL SHIP WHEN WE DAMN WELL FEEL LIKE IT" and at least be honest. I will do all I can to discourage folks for patronizing this behavior. I should note if this nickel dime operation had accepted a CC I would have already submitted a claim from my bank for a credit at this point. Good Riddance!

Received them today. Eight weeks later. I called once in late April and got no response.
I sent a text on May 7th and got a response within five minutes. The person stated that he had been in hospital and his son was working trying to get 500 units sent out.
They look very good and I am pleased. Going now to install them on my M64 and M65....will attempt to post pics.

Doc M... one of my top 5 favorite pics on this site is the above of your 629 with those Magna's and Tyler'-T. She's definitely a keeper! I'm doing the something very similar to my 629 "3" very soon. I just updated all my "J-Frames" to their stock Magna's and Tyler T's and they have become my favorite stuff and go pistols of all time... and I've been carrying since I was 20 years old!

Thanks! I do love that gun. It's a toss up whether the 3" or 4" is my favorite, but those are the two guns I seriously doubt I'll ever sell.

I have a couple of new snubbie additions - my beautiful M19 that I've had for a while but just gave a new set of BK grips, and my new-to-me M12 that is awfully close to mint with just a couple of flaws.

Beautiful pics DocM... Those snubs are set-up to what I consider,,, all business!

I love the utility and "Takin' Care of Business" attitude of a properly gripped, quality snub in .38Special or .44Special/Mag. So where does the snub criteria end in regards to barrel length; 2 inches, or does 3 inches and under count? I probably need to remedy this... but I don't own a revolver with a barrel over 3 inches. I should start looking for a 4" in .44Special.

I was exactly the same way... until I tried a Tyler T and a stock set of Magna's. Now I'm converting all my revolvers to the same and selling the aftermarket Altamont grips online!

The great thing about the Tyler-T and Magna's; is like eating your cake and having it too, for me. I get the exact amount of concealability with just the Magna's on without the added girth/length of aftermarket grips, no tackiness of rubber with cover garments, yet, they fill & fit my hands almost like they were made to go together. YMMV...

As far as using other grips instead of a grip adapter, I would be happy to but I haven't found a grip that does exactly what the T grip does for a reasonable price. In theory, "boot grips" mimic a t-grip/magna combo, but in practice the ones I've messed with feel bigger in my hand and the finger grooves are more obtrusive. The closest I have found is the Pachmayr Compac Pro, but they are rubber and they only make them for a few guns. If someone made a $50-$60 set of wood grips shaped like those Pachmayrs, they'd be on every gun I own.

With regard to 4" revolvers, IMO the 4" M29 is a must own gun. That one I have is brilliant. I'd post a pic but I've already posted several in this thread. The flexibility of the .44 magnum round is just incredible. If you don't handload, buying a 44 magnum is all the excuse you need to get into it. You save money, but also you can load cartridges that will do anything you want from light practice loads to stout personal defense loads to nuclear strength woods loads. Elmer Keith and the Magnum Associates nailed it when they developed 44 magnum.
