10-5
The first time I ever won a firearm on gunbroker . That has never happened because I am really cheap and the ones I I feel like risking money on have poor photos and not much description. When looking at these I usually only bid high enough that I would feel comfortable acquiring another shooter and this one was $351. I thought was a fair price for this revolver.
As long as it has a shiny bore, cylinder and functions fine I will be happy to add it the herd . I have a set of K sq butt K frame magnas for it . Then I got to wondering if it could be a round butt . What would be the odds of that? I don't know how many were produced but I have never seen one. I'm hoping the side plate under the rubber is still in good shape.
I have never purchased one without first seeing it in person or getting more detailed photos and info about any flaws, so we will see how this turns out .
I will post the photos from the auction and add photos of it when it arrives.
Only description was
" Smith Wesson Model 10-5, 38 snub nose gun is in great shape and ready to be yours."

I'm not sure about the "odds" of it being a round butt, but I believe it is.

Could be either round or square! Take the Goodyears off when you get it, there is no other way to tell.

Looks really good from the photo. These are forever guns when well cared for. Several years ago I bough a 10-5 snub from a pawn shop that appeared to be a dresser drawer gun,and appeared to be unfired condition.
It's my favorite revolver to shoot. Congratulations on your deal, it's one you'll never regret buying

Being the type to rarely pass up a Model 10 or 15 snub nose I passed on this one for one of the reasons you mentioned, a mere 2 photos and poor quality at that. I also asked the seller to take and post a photo with the grips off because I questioned what might lye beneath those ugly rubber atrocities but low and behold no reply or action, what a surprise. The ultimate decision to pass was that I already own 2 others and couldn't justify it. I'm glad you capitalized on the poor display of an ad by this seller. Considering I follow these on GB regularly I am happy to tell you I feel strongly you have the best deal on a M10 snub I have seen in awhile and now you can spend a few bucks and apply a set of grips that the revolver deserves. I recently put a Tyler T on mine and it has a great feel and fit. Congratulations

Hope it turns out to be a round butt for you. Either way, looks like you got a pretty good deal on this. Patiently waiting for pics...

My personal Model 10 is a 3" bbl with a square butt.
It is a small square butt for a K frame revolver.
This was my office gun to carry when doing "paper work".

Based on the grip maker's images of its square butt K-frame grips I think there is a way to tell.

No matter what you do, remember to get the rubber grips off it ASAP, as they will hold moisture that can lead to finish damage. Then remember to wipe the frame down with a silicon cloth.
Enjoy that guy, it sounds as if you've gotten a great deal.

Raylan007 thanks for passing on this one. I Placed my max bid at $350 as I figured I could live with a $376 mistake. I was suprized that it only got to $325. I was extra happy that including shipping It’s only $351. I do fear what’s under those Goodyear’s more now that I know that he wouldn’t respond to you.
Two-Bit I think your on to something there. It very well could be a round butt.
I have an extra set of round and square k butt magnas waiting. May have to leave the ugly Goodyear’s on depending what’s under there.
Sent payment off so now it’s a waiting game

I'm glad I didn't ruin what appears to be a great deal in any case, sq. or ro. butt. I know many folks prefer round butt for CC but I happen to have 2 sq. butt and that suits me fine. Had the seller responded and made note that it was a ro. butt that may have been all it took to push me over the edge. Sometimes those late closing auctions become a sellers market just due to folks being spent. Glad to hear you got such a good deal. You will be amazed at the accuracy of a 2"
"K" frame if you have never fire one. I especially enjoy shooting wadcutters. Here is a nice nickle M10-5 sq. butt I paid $530 for all total and I would be glad to do so again.

You did good! I find it hard to pass up M10’s so I have stopped looking at them! I have six now, I think, I don’t have a snub though, damn, I guess that I need to start looking again.

I was watching this one too. I asked the seller for the serial #(full or partial) to see if it was in the range for a birth year gun and never got a response either.

I don't watch auctions, and normally I don't really care for "snubs" but recently my LGS had a five screw M&P 38, from the early 50's in the case. I ignored it for weeks, but finally gave in and bought it.
I took it to the range yesterday, and I must say it's a great shooter. I'm not a great shot mind you, but the gun did just fine.

Congrats on the purchase. I was bidding on that one too. I set my max bid low, with plans to increase it if the highest bid was within my budget. I got busy and didn't check back until 5 minutes after the auction closed.

I did not follow the auction of this revolver. I happened onto it about 30 mins before the end of the auction. Had I inquired about the revolver and got no response, I would not had bid on it either.
I went into it knowing I was bidding on a pig in a poke. I will post an update when it arrives.

I got a 10-5, 2 years ago on G.B. It is no beauty but I really enjoy shooting it. Came with terrible magna stocks on it. (threw them out) It was $329 shipped if my memory serves me correct. Has had several sets of stocks on it. Now wears modified Herretts (I created) which feel great to me. ENJOY your 10! Bob

Nice pick up 00Buck2. I don't normally like rubber grips, but those look pretty neat on that model 10. Enjoy it.

**UPDATE**
Two-bit cowboy called it and it arrived in the round butt configuration!!!!!! . Serial puts it around 1975.
It took a long time for the seller to ship after receiving funds, but it shipped and it exceeded my expectations.
I was very lucky on my first Gunbroker purchase. I got the grips off and it cleaned up very nicely. No pitting, bore and cylinders were nice and shiny!
I took some photos when it arrived.
It cleaned up so nicely I decided to take a few glamour shots.
It has almost a mirror blue very minor handling marks. The blue is so nice I think it may have been sent back for a re blue as the grip frame has a B stamped in it with a circle around it. I don't know if that indicates a re blue but either way I am more than happy.
I don't think I will make it a habit to bid on firearms with poor photos and vague descriptions. I think that would be pressing my luck. But I am more than happy with this purchase.
