Three 22's Bound for the Range
My entire Smith 22 collection. I'm original owner of the 63 no-dash and the 1948 K22, sort of, My late Dad bought it new. And the 18-4 I bought last weekend, haven't shot it yet. Normally I'd take a lunch break at the range on Friday but work has me swamped. Might try to leave office late afternoon Friday.
I have very high hopes for the Combat Masterpiece. I love the way it holds and points. I know the 63's capabilities and I know I don't do the K22 justice.

Start doing that K 22 justice.
It has some nice unrelieved DT's so there is no excuse. Happy shooting too.

A great rimfire start. Now you need a 34, 41, and 617 and all the assorted barrel lengths. Then you can keep going into the .22MRF and add those too. I speak from personal experience and it’s a fun addiction!

Hmmmm, you learn something new every day. I never thought of it as an addiction. I thought it was a sickness. But you are right about the progression

There must have been a real run on K-22s in 1948. It seems like another one shows up on this forum every day or two, and without fail they are highly regarded by their proud owners... I know I surely love mine!
I'm curious about those sweet looking target stocks on yours. Are they original to the gun or a later addition? Mine wear their original magna-type stocks most of the time but occasionally play dress-up in a pair of FITZ basket weave wood stocks. I haven't found a pair of the original, unrelieved targets I could afford yet.
BTW, a little bit of cheap fingernail polish will make that front sight on the K-22 more visible, and you can return to "original" with a quick swipe of nail polish remover.
Regards,
Froggie

Froggie,
Yep, greatest generation coming home from the war likely accounted for the run on the '48 K22's. My late Dad was certainly in that group. But his revolver has it's numbered magna's. As for me coming up with those un-relieved targets, I don't know what I did to deserve my good fortune. A forum member named Jim from The Great State of Texas sold them to me. He gave me a deal I didn't deserve. I hope Jim is doing well. I know he was in the process of moving when the Houston area flooded.
But I think the targets do give me an edge. I need all I can get.

Thanks! And I give myself credit for actually shooting the new to me 18-4. I have had a tendency to squirrel away safe queens.
