Question 29-2 Price Check

Ran across this locally. Model 29-2, nickel, 8 3/8's with target stocks. It's an N serial number. It has the case and all accessories however, case has lost it's lining. Don't have an M29 and while not necessarily looking for one in this barrel length I'm thinking if the monies right why not? Haven't been able to see it in person but presuming finish is intact and it checks out mechanically what are we looking at as far as market value, $500-$600?

Correction. The case is the 1969-74 version as noted in the SCS&W 4th Edition. The flocking is gone.

I'm not sure, but my guess would be double that amount.

Yeah, what he said.

However, it would be nice to know the condition the gun is in. That would help in estimating value.

The 8 3/8th barrel is slower to sell generally, so that will depress the value somewhat.

Gunbroker Has them listed well north of $2,000. Another
Poster below this asked the same question about a Blued Version.

I found one locally with box and documents etc., who wanted to trade a Colt Combat Elite. I gave it consideration but passed as I thought the market for gun is too small to Recoup the expense.

Yep I've paid double that for them so if you can get it for $500-600 take it and run if it is in nice condition.

Wow! I figured I might be a little low but didn't figure an N serial number in this barrel length would be bringing that much? I've not been keeping up on values like I should be.

You are forgetting Harry Callahan...the 29's used in the movies were 8-3/8 and 6-1/2" so when one wants one, well they want one..

Ditto..

I have a 4" nickel case and paperwork.. You'd need to show up with at least a grand to buy it, and I'd don't think it's for sale. To replace will only get pricier.

No sir, you haven't been!

N-Frame ... Our Motto: "Any N-Frame in working order is at least $500"
44 Magnum ... Where can you find one for under $700 - $800?
P&R ... add at least a $100
Case (sans flocking) and ALL ACCESSORIES ... That's at least $100 right there, more likely $200.
Nickel ... some people really like it and will pay more for it.
Long Barrel ... some people like it a lot. Sure, shorter barrels are in more demand, but for anything but carry, the long barrel is better.

My guess is that the totality of this package makes $1,200 look like a bargain, unless it has been beat to heck.

Totally agree with this. Seems to match up perfectly with what I see around here.
