Default Price check aisle 29

So, a man walks into a gun store... A friend brought me a blue 29-2 8 3/8" that Jim Hoag did some fantastic work on. The gun is minty and has presentation box in okay shape. I had never heard of Mr. Hoag before. Wow, he ran in pretty nice company. Any of you guys have any idea what his father's gun would be worth?

We are inclined to buy the gun, not the story. That said, would you be so kind as to post some photos of this storied 29-2? One picture, it is said, is worth. . .

I have saw one recently going for $1100. I passed on the deal. He wanted to trade a Colt 1911 in a straight trade. Hopefully I didn't make a horrible mistake.

I've seen them on GB for more than double that. I'm not sure how many sell.

It's kinda like the purple flames on an El Camino. You gotta find the right buyer. I'm afraid that there are fewer people who can appreciate the life and work of Mr. Hoag. They all sell. The question is; do you get what it is worth to you. But, I learned something new for free and saw some really cool guns.

So...you passed on a 29-2 modified by an absolute rock star master gunsmith for $1100? Can I have the seller's contact info?

I know Jim, he recently fully retired from his craft. He was active in the California shooting scene all the way back to the early days of Big Bear and Jeff Cooper. His work is indeed top flight.

You didn't mention 'what' work was done? He was famous for putting S & W target sights on 1911s and BHPs, maybe he did it on the model 29.

Photos would be nice.
